Aeroflot, prosecutors ask for house arrest of deputy CEO

MOSCOW, Oct 16 (PRIME) -- Russia’s national flagship carrier Aeroflot and the prosecutor asked the Moscow City Court to put the company’s Deputy CEO Vladimir Alexandrov under house arrest instead under a case of 250 million ruble embezzlement, according to the information obtained by PRIME in the court on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the court acknowledged Aeroflot as a defendant under the case.

“Since Aeroflot’s position was not stated in the court of the first instance, I would like to state it now. I ask the court to change the pre-trial detention measure for Alexandrov to house arrest,” the company’s representative said, while a prosecutor said he had no objections to the request.

The Investigative Committee’s spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said earlier that investigators believed Alexandrov and his associates had organized four contracts with lawyers Alexander Slivko and Dina Kabets in 2015–2016, but had obliged lawyers of the airline’s legal department to fulfill works under the contracts.

Under the contracts, Alexandrov and former director of Aeroflot’s legal department Tatyana Davydova transferred at least 250 million rubles to the Moscow College of Advocates in 2016–2018 basing on illegal acts prepared by Slivko and Kabets, Petrenko said. The Basmanny District Court of Moscow approved the arrest of Alexandrov on October 2 until November 30.
